How does Skin Needling work?
Skin needling is a form of collagen induction therapy that uses needles to create tiny wounds in the skin that trick the body into thinking it is injured. When this occurs, the body accelerates its natural healing process which sees a boost in collagen and elastin production, aka the source for younger, stronger, and brighter-looking skin.

How many treatments will I need?
Treatments will vary from client to client, but we recommend 4-6 skin needling treatments for optimal results.

What happens during my treatment?
The needles create tiny wounds that accelerate the body’s natural healing process and work to repair the skin through increased production of collagen and elastin.

Depending on the treatment area, skin condition and the depth of penetration, some clients may experience discomfort.

We will provide more advice and an in-depth consultation based on your specific skin goals.

When will I see results?

• 13 days post-treatment – a visible improvement to the skin
• 2-4 weeks post-treatment – visible improvement to uneven skin tone and texture and the appearance of fine lines or scarring
• 6-12 weeks post-treatment – most dramatic visible improvement to the skin

Deeper skin concerns such as uneven skin tone and texture, fine lines and acne scarring will improve with the collagen regeneration process and are generally visible 2-4 weeks following treatment. Most dramatic results will occur 6-12 weeks post-treatment.

What happens after my treatment?
Most clients experience redness and minor pin-point bleeding immediately after a skin needling treatment. Post-treatment redness may appear like a mild sunburn and last 1-3 days.

We will recommend a post-treatment skin care product to assist in skin hydration and accelerate your results. We recommend waiting at least 24 hours post-treatment before applying mineral makeup to the treated area.

Salon policy- we do not perform advanced skin treatments without prior skin prep and consultation. If you haven’t had a consultation in the last 12 months, we require this to be booked in before advanced treatments.

CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR SKIN NEEDLING:

In some cases, a letter from your doctor or specialist may be required prior to commencing treatment.

• Sun exposure within the last 14 days
• Fake tan of any kind
• Taking a photo-sensitizing medication- prescription, over the counter and herbal
• The use of mechanical epilation, waxed or tweezed in the last 4 weeks
• A history of seizures of any kind
• A history of keloid & hypertrophic scar formation
• Any active infections/Immunosuppression
• Laser Resurfacing within the last 6 months
• Chemical Peel within the last 2 weeks
• Pregnant, or have hormonal imbalances or taking any medication which may affect treatment outcomes
• Any chronic illness or medication that could affect treatment
• Your skin should not be inflamed in the area to be treated.
• Any suspicious lesions in the area to be treated.

THE 4 PHASES OF WOUND HEALING

Homeostasis
Damaged area contracts (vasoconstriction) to reduce bleeding, a fibrin clot forms stopping blood loss (blood clot).
Followed by vaso dilation resulting in oedema, erythema and heat.
Leading on to the next phase –
Inflammatory (can last longer if the skin has not been prepared and is in poor condition).

Inflammatory (1 - 3 Days)
In one of the main stages of wound healing, in the inflammatory phase, macrophages such as neutrophils are perhaps the most critical cells in the early phase of wound healing and without them, little or no healing will occur. Neutrophils remove debris and bacteria and release growth factors, instigating a vital step to ensure complete healing and regeneration.

At this stage, to reduce oxidative stress and to assist in wound healing apply antioxidants to help in the elimination of cellular debris and reducing cellular inflammation. Topical application of ACE Vitamins. In the first week apply Vit C and E, copper peptides and Retinyl palmitate to ensure the barrier defence is strong and the epidermis can repair quickly.

Proliferation (3 - 20 Days)
This stage comprises angiogenesis, collagen deposition, granulation tissue formation, epithelialisation, and wound contraction.

At this stage, you may experience pinhead size rounded nodules, and diffused redness or bruising may appear. Epithelial cells migrate across the new tissue to form a barrier between the wound and the environment.

Keratinocyte numbers increase, improving epidermal density. A new extracellular matrix is cultivated with fibroblast cells releasing collagen and fibronectin. Fibroblasts continue to proliferate, and glycosaminoglycans are released.

New Epithelial cells migrate across the granulation bed to restore the epidermis.

The skin will be in a fragile state as wound collagen has no strength. The treated area will be more susceptible to UV damage and therefore extra care should be taken during this phase.

Maturative & Remodelling Phase (20 Days-2 Years)
Fibroblasts replace Type III collagen with Type I collagen. The final stages of maturation and remodelling phase will be seen when the wound becomes smaller by the contraction ability of the myofibroblast cells.

During this phase, UV exposure can increase collagenase, breaking down wound collagen and weakening the new Type I collagen.

How do chemical peels work?
Professional chemical peel treatments are designed to reduce the appearance of irregularities on the skin’s surface. By removing the top layers of the skin, we are stimulating collagen production, improving skin texture, creating a more even skin tone, reducing congestion, and improving the overall appearance of the skin.

Will all chemical peels make my skin peel?
No. Despite what you may see on tv and in the movies, not all peels leave you looking like a tomato. The strength of the peel, what we’re targeting, and the ingredients used will all play a role in your post-treatment care. Some may have no downtime at all! Your specific pre- and post-peel care will be discussed during your consultation.

Do I need to prepare my skin for a chemical peel?
Yes. A skin consultation is required before beginning any peel treatment. It is also recommended that your skin is prepped with prescribed skincare before beginning a course of peels. This ensures your skin is prepped and strengthened to respond best to the treatment and achieve optimal outcomes.

*Treatments are to commence at a low level and only if suitable and well-tolerated peel intensity may be increased.

Whilst some peels may seem similar, we like to have a variety of peels to ensure we can treat a wide variety of skin conditions and types -one size does not fit all.

Skin prep with active skincare is essential for advanced treatments such as peels.

Pre and post-care will help your skin recover from these treatments in a more predictable, efficient way.

The level of a peel does not indicate the shedding of skin reaction level.

The higher the level the more skin prep required. Some higher-level peels will cause increased shedding others will not. Just as some lower-level peels will cause shedding and some will not.

Some of our peels are labelled cold peels.

These peels are safe for all Skin types and variations of pigmentation.

The cold peels indicate that on hormonal pigmentation and darker skin types we are less likely to see any PIH as we are not heating the skin.

We use this method on hormonal pigmentation such as melasma rather than the run-of-the-mill, peel your entire face off peels. This is due to what we call bounce back.

How do Plasma treatments work?
Plasma treatments harness a high-energy plasma arc to tighten and lift the treated area. This arc creates pinpoint injuries on the skin’s surface which trigger the skin’s natural wound-healing response and as a result, boosts collagen and elastin production.

How long will it take to see results?
Results can be seen immediately and even more so 2 weeks post-treatment. The skin will then continue to improve over 2-3 months. Results are expected to last 2-5 years, depending on your skin type, diet, environment and how your skin naturally ages.

How many treatments will I need?
1-2 treatments are often enough, depending on your skin type. For some clients, up to 4 treatments may be required to achieve the desired outcome.​​

Are there any aftereffects?
Plasma treatments are completely safe. Immediately after the treatment, the treated area will be red and swollen and last for up to 3 days. Your therapist will explain your post-treatment care.

How long do results last?

Clients with Eyelash extensions receiving upper or lower eyelid treatment must have lashes removed prior to treatment and reapplied after 8 weeks.

This treatment is only recommended for light-medium skin tones. Anyone with darker complexions is at risk for Hypopigmentation.

Before Your Treatment

• ·        Discontinue any kind of tanning (Spray tanning, tanning injections, sun tanning and tanning beds) for 2 to 4 weeks before your treatment.
• ·        Use SPF5O to prep your skin for 2 to 4 weeks before your treatment, especially if you are naturally darker skinned.
• ·        Avoid any other type of procedures on the same area which you intend to have treated with Plasma Lift, such as laser therapy, chemical peels, Botox, fillers, as this may prevent your treatment being performed by your technician at the time you want it.
• No facial acids (Retin A, salicylic, glycolic) 14 days before or 21 days after Plasma Lift
• No Botox or fillers 21 days before or after Plasma Pen
• No Micro needling/PRP 21 days before or after Plasma Pen
• No laser or peels (depending on intensity of peel) for 90 days before or after Plasma Pen
• Surgical procedures like face lifts you must wait at least 9 months postop/before Plasma Pen.

Immediately Following Treatment

• You may experience a “stinging” sensation in the treated area(s) immediately after treatment. This is normal and it generally only lasts for about an hour.
• If the treated area is swollen, you may apply ice packs covered with a clean cloth. Do NOT apply ice directly onto the skin, as this can cause damage to the tissue. Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medications like aspirin, ibuprofen or steroids if possible.
• If you are receiving a Plasma Lift treatment anywhere on your face or neck, we recommend you sleep on your back with your head elevated to reduce swelling.
• DO NOT cleanse the treated area until the following day.
• Do NOT exercise 48 hours after treatment or expose yourself to any heat, steam or sweat because this can intensify the inflammation that’s already present.
• You must follow the provided aftercare protocol to expedite the healing process and avoid complications.
• It is highly unlikely you will ever get an infection from a Plasma Lift treatment, as the wound we cause is not open. However, the first 12 hours post-treatment are vital in protecting you from any potential infection, so please avoid any activities where you could expose yourself to contaminants. Keeping hands off anything that comes in contact with the treatment area.
• You may return to work the following day. However, you will not look your absolute best during the initial healing process (approximately 7 days)
• Expect redness, swelling and inflammation for the first 1 to 5 days post-treatment. This is normal but will usually be of a very minor nature.
• Following Days After Your Treatment
• It is normal for the area that has been treated to be red/pink, swollen and feel tight and dry. . . Occasional weeping is normal and will settle.
• Tiny crusts will quickly form on the treated area. These may be visible for up to about a week.
• Do NOT pick crusts off, as this will delay the healing process and could cause hyperpigmentation and scarring.
• The area(s) treated may be cleansed daily with room temperature water and your fingers.
• Avoid using washcloths or any other washing devices. You are only removing excess oil and do not need to cleanse the treated skin thoroughly.
• Do NOT be tempted to rub, brush, or exfoliate the area in any way to aid in the removal of the crusts. Pat dry with a clean tissue
• Do NOT stand with your face under a hot shower for the first 3-4 days. This could increase swelling. Try to avoid shower gels or hair products running onto your face as this could cause irritation and inflammation. Rinse thoroughly with tepid water if products do come into contact with the area(s) treated and gently pat dry.
• Avoid swimming or chlorinated water as it can increase irritation.
• ·Keep scabs/crusts moist by applying provided aftercare three times a day – but only in small amounts, do not soak the area.
• Avoid shaving the treated area until it is fully healed (around 7 days).
• If you have had treatment around your eyes, you should avoid wearing contact lenses for 72 hours after your treatment.
• Once the scabs have fallen off (approximately 7 days), your skin may be a little pink. You may begin to apply your normal foundation/make-up/sunblock but avoid using skincare products containing glycolic/salicylic/retinoic/AHA/scrubs/Clarisonic or any other active exfoliating ingredients/devices for at least 21 days, as this will cause irritation. ABSOLUTELY NO MAKEUP UNTIL SCABS HAVE FALLEN OFF.
• Avoid sun exposure. Once the scabs have fallen off, you must wear a physical sunblock (zinc & titanium) and a hat while your skin is in the healing stages (pink in colour), and you should continue to do so for at least the next 12 weeks to avoid hyperpigmentation.
• Do NOT sunbath/sun tanning beds for 10–12 weeks post-procedure.
• Do NOT have any other facial treatments in the same treatment area while your skin is healing (12 weeks).
• Do NOT wax the treatment area for at least 21 days, if not longer.
• If you are receiving Plasma Pen treatment anywhere around the eyes, I would wait the full 12 weeks. It will be ok to tweeze or thread any unwanted hairs after scabs have fallen off the area.

How does IPL Skin Rejuvenation work?
IPL Skin Rejuvenation works by delivering intense pulses of light energy to the skin, targeting the area of concern. This generates heat which destroys the damaged cells, such as pigment or broken blood vessels, whilst also stimulating collagen production for a stronger, tauter, and regenerated complexion.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?

PIGMENTATION TREATMENT
A mild sunburn-like sensation is expected. This usually last 2 to 24 hours but can persist up to 72 hours. Mild swelling and/or redness may accompany this, which usually resolves in 2 to 3 days. In some cases, prolonged redness or blistering may occur.
The treated area may initially look raised and/or darker with a reddened perimeter. Apply cool/ice compresses to treatment areas for 10 to 15 minutes every hour for the next 4 hours, as needed, to reduce discomfort and heat sensation.
The treated area will gradually turn darker over the next 24 to 48 hours. It may turn dark brown or even black.
The treated area will progress to scabs/crusting and will start flaking off in 2 to 3 days.
The treated area is usually healed in 7-10 days. It will continue to fade over the next 2 to 4 weeks.
Direct sunlight to the treated area should be avoided. Daily application of an SPF30 is recommended to prevent the development of new lesions.
There is a possibility of hair loss in the treated area when being treated for pigmented lesions.

ACNE TREATMENT
A mild warmth or sunburn-like sensation is expected. This can usually last from 1 to 24 hours.

Avoid sun exposure to treated areas
Do not pick, scratch or remove scabs as this will cause unwanted side effects

How does Radio Frequency (RF) Skin Tightening work?
