We begin every new client journey with a skin consultation to get to know you, your skin, and your skin goals. What sets our consultation experience apart is our OBSERV 520 skin analysis technology. Following a deep cleanse of your skin, you’ll have a series of photographs taken of your skin with this device.

Assessing the likes of pigmentation, signs of ageing, pore size, redness, oil flow and hydration, our OBSERV 520 technology allows us to look at the skin beyond the surface to uncover its true health.

We pair the finding in these photos with a discussion about your current skincare regime, lifestyle, skin history, timeframe, and budget. Harnessing all this information, we craft a personalised treatment plan and customised skincare products to help you achieve your skin goals. We may also suggest supplementation and nutritional recommendations to further enhance your results.

How does Skin Needling work?
Skin needling is a form of collagen induction therapy that uses needles to create tiny wounds in the skin that trick the body into thinking it is injured. When this occurs, the body accelerates its natural healing process which sees a boost in collagen and elastin production, aka the source for younger, stronger, and brighter-looking skin.

How many treatments will I need?
Treatments will vary from client to client, but we recommend 4-6 skin needling treatments for optimal results.

What happens during my treatment?
The needles create tiny wounds that accelerate the body’s natural healing process and work to repair the skin through increased production of collagen and elastin.

Depending on the treatment area, skin condition and the depth of penetration, some clients may experience discomfort.

We will provide more advice and an in-depth consultation based on your specific skin goals.

When will I see results?

• 13 days post-treatment – a visible improvement to the skin
• 2-4 weeks post-treatment – visible improvement to uneven skin tone and texture and the appearance of fine lines or scarring
• 6-12 weeks post-treatment – most dramatic visible improvement to the skin

Deeper skin concerns such as uneven skin tone and texture, fine lines and acne scarring will improve with the collagen regeneration process and are generally visible 2-4 weeks following treatment. Most dramatic results will occur 6-12 weeks post-treatment.

What happens after my treatment?
Most clients experience redness and minor pin-point bleeding immediately after a skin needling treatment. Post-treatment redness may appear like a mild sunburn and last 1-3 days.

We will recommend a post-treatment skin care product to assist in skin hydration and accelerate your results. We recommend waiting at least 24 hours post-treatment before applying mineral makeup to the treated area.

Salon policy- we do not perform advanced skin treatments without prior skin prep and consultation. If you haven’t had a consultation in the last 12 months, we require this to be booked in before advanced treatments.

CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR SKIN NEEDLING:

In some cases, a letter from your doctor or specialist may be required prior to commencing treatment.

• Fake tan of any kind
• Taking a photo-sensitizing medication- prescription, over the counter and herbal
• The use of mechanical epilation, waxed or tweezed in the last 4 weeks
• A history of seizures of any kind
• A history of keloid & hypertrophic scar formation
• Any active infections/Immunosuppression
• Laser Resurfacing within the last 6 months
• Chemical Peel within the last 2 weeks
• Pregnant, or have hormonal imbalances or taking any medication which may affect treatment outcomes
• Any chronic illness or medication that could affect treatment
• Your skin should not be inflamed in the area to be treated.
• Any suspicious lesions in the area to be treated.

THE 4 PHASES OF WOUND HEALING

Homeostasis
Damaged area contracts (vasoconstriction) to reduce bleeding, a fibrin clot forms stopping blood loss (blood clot).
Followed by vaso dilation resulting in oedema, erythema and heat.
Leading on to the next phase –
Inflammatory (can last longer if the skin has not been prepared and is in poor condition).

Inflammatory (1 - 3 Days)
In one of the main stages of wound healing, in the inflammatory phase, macrophages such as neutrophils are perhaps the most critical cells in the early phase of wound healing and without them, little or no healing will occur. Neutrophils remove debris and bacteria and release growth factors, instigating a vital step to ensure complete healing and regeneration.

At this stage, to reduce oxidative stress and to assist in wound healing apply antioxidants to help in the elimination of cellular debris and reducing cellular inflammation. Topical application of ACE Vitamins. In the first week apply Vit C and E, copper peptides and Retinyl palmitate to ensure the barrier defence is strong and the epidermis can repair quickly.

Proliferation (3 - 20 Days)
This stage comprises angiogenesis, collagen deposition, granulation tissue formation, epithelialisation, and wound contraction.

At this stage, you may experience pinhead size rounded nodules, and diffused redness or bruising may appear. Epithelial cells migrate across the new tissue to form a barrier between the wound and the environment.

Keratinocyte numbers increase, improving epidermal density. A new extracellular matrix is cultivated with fibroblast cells releasing collagen and fibronectin. Fibroblasts continue to proliferate, and glycosaminoglycans are released.

New Epithelial cells migrate across the granulation bed to restore the epidermis.

The skin will be in a fragile state as wound collagen has no strength. The treated area will be more susceptible to UV damage and therefore extra care should be taken during this phase.

Maturative & Remodelling Phase (20 Days-2 Years)
Fibroblasts replace Type III collagen with Type I collagen. The final stages of maturation and remodelling phase will be seen when the wound becomes smaller by the contraction ability of the myofibroblast cells.

During this phase, UV exposure can increase collagenase, breaking down wound collagen and weakening the new Type I collagen.

How do chemical peels work?
Professional chemical peel treatments are designed to reduce the appearance of irregularities on the skin’s surface. By removing the top layers of the skin, we are stimulating collagen production, improving skin texture, creating a more even skin tone, reducing congestion, and improving the overall appearance of the skin.

Will all chemical peels make my skin peel?
No. Despite what you may see on tv and in the movies, not all peels leave you looking like a tomato. The strength of the peel, what we’re targeting, and the ingredients used will all play a role in your post-treatment care. Some may have no downtime at all! Your specific pre- and post-peel care will be discussed during your consultation.

Do I need to prepare my skin for a chemical peel?
Yes. A skin consultation is required before beginning any peel treatment. It is also recommended that your skin is prepped with prescribed skincare before beginning a course of peels. This ensures your skin is prepped and strengthened to respond best to the treatment and achieve optimal outcomes.

*Treatments are to commence at a low level and only if suitable and well-tolerated peel intensity may be increased.

Whilst some peels may seem similar, we like to have a variety of peels to ensure we can treat a wide variety of skin conditions and types -one size does not fit all.

Skin prep with active skincare is essential for advanced treatments such as peels.

Pre and post-care will help your skin recover from these treatments in a more predictable, efficient way.

The level of a peel does not indicate the shedding of skin reaction level.

The higher the level the more skin prep required. Some higher-level peels will cause increased shedding others will not. Just as some lower-level peels will cause shedding and some will not.

Some of our peels are labelled cold peels.

These peels are safe for all Skin types and variations of pigmentation.

The cold peels indicate that on hormonal pigmentation and darker skin types we are less likely to see any PIH as we are not heating the skin.

We use this method on hormonal pigmentation such as melasma rather than the run-of-the-mill, peel your entire face off peels. This is due to what we call bounce back.

Rather than spending thousands of dollars on one peel that will usually see the pigmentation returning within a few years, we suggest a course of our cold peels and maintain the results with a tyrosinase inhibitor.

Skin prep with active skincare is essential for advanced treatments such as peels.

Pre and post-care will help your skin recover from these treatments in a more predictable, efficient way.

The level of a peel does not indicate the shedding of skin reaction level.

The higher the level the more skin prep required. Some higher-level peels will cause increased shedding others will not. Just as some lower-level peels will cause shedding and some will not.

Some of our peels are labelled cold peels.

These peels are safe for all Skin types and variations of pigmentation.

The cold peels indicate that on hormonal pigmentation and darker skin types we are less likely to see any PIH as we are not heating the skin.

We use this method on hormonal pigmentation such as melasma rather than the run-of-the-mill, peel your entire face off peels. This is due to what we call bounce back.

Rather than spending thousands of dollars on one peel that will usually see the pigmentation returning within a few years, we suggest a course of our cold peels and maintain the results with a tyrosinase inhibitor.

Salon policy- we do not perform advanced skin treatments without prior skin prep and consultation. If you haven’t had a consultation in the last 12 months, we require this to be booked in before advanced treatments.

CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR A PEEL

In some cases, a letter from your doctor or specialist may be required prior to commencing treatment.

• Sun exposure within the last 14 days
• Fake tan of any kind
• Taking a photo-sensitizing medication- prescription, over the counter and herbal
• The use of mechanical epilation, waxed or tweezed in the last 4 weeks
• A history of seizures of any kind
• A history of keloid & hypertrophic scar formation
• Any active infections/Immunosuppression
• Laser Resurfacing within the last 6 months
• Chemical Peel within the last 2 weeks
• Pregnant, or have hormonal imbalances or taking any medication which may affect treatment outcomes
• Any chronic illness or medication that could affect treatment
• Your skin should not be inflamed in the area to be treated.
• Any suspicious lesions in the area to be treated.
• Ingredient allergies
• Active facial rashes
• Open or unidentified lesions (Herpes Simplex/Cold Sores)
• Any dermatitis - eczema, psoriasis, and seborrhoea

How does IPL Skin Rejuvenation work?
IPL Skin Rejuvenation works by delivering intense pulses of light energy to the skin, targeting the area of concern. This generates heat which destroys the damaged cells, such as pigment or broken blood vessels, whilst also stimulating collagen production for a stronger, tauter, and regenerated complexion.

Can skin concerns can be treated with IPL?
IPL treatments can address the unwanted appearance of pigmentation (including sunspots, age spots and freckles), acne, vascularity and redness, and overall rejuvenation to combat the signs of ageing.

Why do I need a skin consultation before my first treatment?

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?

PIGMENTATION TREATMENT
A mild sunburn-like sensation is expected. This usually last 2 to 24 hours but can persist up to 72 hours. Mild swelling and/or redness may accompany this, which usually resolves in 2 to 3 days. In some cases, prolonged redness or blistering may occur.
The treated area may initially look raised and/or darker with a reddened perimeter. Apply cool/ice compresses to treatment areas for 10 to 15 minutes every hour for the next 4 hours, as needed, to reduce discomfort and heat sensation.
The treated area will gradually turn darker over the next 24 to 48 hours. It may turn dark brown or even black.
The treated area will progress to scabs/crusting and will start flaking off in 2 to 3 days.
The treated area is usually healed in 7-10 days. It will continue to fade over the next 2 to 4 weeks.
Direct sunlight to the treated area should be avoided. Daily application of an SPF30 is recommended to prevent the development of new lesions.
There is a possibility of hair loss in the treated area when being treated for pigmented lesions.

ACNE TREATMENT
A mild warmth or sunburn-like sensation is expected. This can usually last from 1 to 24 hours.
Little to mild redness may be experienced but will subside relatively quickly.
Minor dry, flaking skin may be experienced post-treatment as lesions heal. Please do not pick or pull and allow the skin to heal spontaneously.

SKIN REJUVENATION
Mild warmth or sunburn-like sensation is to be expected. This can last from a few hours to 24 hours post-treatment.

No swimming, especially in pools with chemical/chlorine
No hot tubs and Jacuzzis
No exercise or activities that cause excessive perspiration
Avoid sun exposure to treated areas
Do not pick, scratch or remove scabs as this will cause unwanted side effects

How does Radio Frequency (RF) Skin Tightening work?
RF Skin Tightening works by applying a specialised handpiece to the treatment area which generates heat to very specific temperatures. This heat travels to the dermal and sub-dermal layers of the skin, causing tissue retraction, which results in instantly tighter and firmer skin. • Exercise, swimming, spas and anything that involves increasing your body temperature should be avoided for 24-48 hours.
• A 30+ sunscreen should be applied immediately following your treatment and reapplied as necessary over the next 72 hours.
