LASER TATTOO REMOVAL

Whether you’re farewelling unwanted ink or making way for a fresh, new design, we offer safe and reliable laser tattoo removal solutions.

Using high-powered Nd: YAG laser technology, we deliver fast pulses of laser energy to the treatment area where the light is attracted to your tattoo. The ink particles are shattered by the laser, engulfed by the body, and eliminated through your natural filtration system. With every treatment, your tattoo will continue to fade and for most, disappear.

During your initial consultation, we will ascertain how many treatments you may require for optimal results. This will be dependent on the age, quality, and colour of your tattoo.

Cosmetic tattoos are also suitable for removal.

TATTOO REMOVAL FAQ’S

Am I a suitable candidate for treatment?
Some medical conditions may prevent you from being suitable for this treatment.
By booking a Consultation, your therapist will help determine your treatment suitability. Packages can also be discussed and arranged during the consultation.

Why do people remove their tattoos?
Most people get tattooed and bitterly regret the decision further on. What seemed like a good idea at the time can cause a major problem in later life. There are also many people now seeking to reduce or remove previous tattoos to make way for new and more modern designs.

What tattoo removal technology do you use?
We perform tattoo removal treatments with the UltraLASE Q-Switched Nd-YAG Laser which can remove tattoos containing black, dark, light blue, green and red pigments. By matching the colour of the laser to the colour of the unwanted tattoo ink, multi-coloured professional tattoos as well as single-colour amateur tattoos can be removed safely and effectively.

How many treatments are necessary?
It is impossible to accurately predict the number of treatments necessary as it depends on the amount of ink used and how deep the ink was inserted. As a guide, most professional tattoos will require at least 6-12 treatments.

Can the area be re-tattooed?
Yes, the area can be re-tattooed following laser removal. Whether you have had complete removal, partial removal or just lightening of the area, you will be able to be re-tattooed.

Will the tattoo completely disappear?
In many cases, there will be a 100% clearance of the tattoo. On average, 95% fading is considered a good result. The result depends upon the colour and type of ink used as well as the depth of penetration of the ink in the skin. Your therapist can discuss with you the likeliness of success during your initial consultation.

Is there a risk of scarring?
The risk of scarring is very low; however, it is not zero, and aftercare is essential.

Is laser tattoo removal painful?
Whilst this treatment is not considered a comfortable one, we do everything we can to make your treatment experience as comfortable as possible. Anaesthetic creams can be used to numb the skin before laser treatment. We recommend visiting your local pharmacist a few days before treatment to purchase your numbing cream and follow the instructions given by your pharmacist.

Can all types of tattoos be treated?
It is possible to remove or significantly lighten most tattoos, including cosmetic brow tattoos. Black, blue, and red tattoos tend to respond well. Aqua, green, and yellow tattoos may be more resistant and only partially fade. White tattoos reflect laser light and therefore do not respond to laser treatment.

How frequent are the treatments?
Time is required between each treatment to allow the body’s lymphatic system to remove the ink that has been treated by the laser.  A minimum period of six weeks between treatments is recommended.

How long after being tattooed can removal commence?
Removal can commence as soon as the tattoo has completely healed. Although it may appear healed within a week or two, the tattoo will still require further time to completely heal before removal commences. A minimum period of six weeks is advised. Your initial consultation can take place at any time during the six weeks.

What to Expect

  • Tattooed areas will whiten and become raised immediately after treatment. This is expected and a normal reaction and will settle within about half an hour. The tattoo will return to its normal colour after a few hours.
  • Pinpoint bleeding may occur, both on and under the skin. This will either be cleansed away or subside in the days following treatment.
  • The tattooed area may blister. Do not break the blisters; however, keep them dressed. Elevation and intermittent icing will aid in healing.
  • The tattoo ink will start to fade over subsequent weeks and months.
  • The skin can have an “unclean”, scabby look which can last from 3-14 days. Keep skin moist using Solugel or Bepanthen to ensure the best healing outcomes.
  • If treatment is undertaken on the lower extremities, it is recommended to keep them elevated for the first 12-24 hours post-treatment.

Post Treatment

  • Ensure you continue to apply an aftercare cream such as Solugel/Bepanthen and dress the area as recommended by your clinician. It is important that you follow the recommended routine to ensure the best results and optimal healing.
  • Do not ‘pop’ any blisters, should they occur.
  • Strict avoidance of sun in the area is essential.
  • Wear 30+ sunblock and protective clothing, regardless of weather for 4+ weeks.
  • Face, neck, and hands will require sunblock daily (if being treated)
  • Do not scratch, pick, or rub the area. Scratching or picking will have the same result as picking any scab or pimple and the area could infect or scar.
  • Do not go in a spa/pool/sauna or anywhere that involves chlorine/chemicals or excessive heat for at least a week after treatment.
  • Avoid the gym or excessive exercise for 48 hours or more after treatment.
  • Avoid friction of the treated area, ie under arms, bikini, and inner thigh.
